Size guide

How to measure for a belt and for footwear, with conversion charts · measure once, order once

Your belt size is not your trouser size. Measure a belt you already wear from where the leather meets the buckle to the hole you actually use — that distance is your belt size. If you have no belt to copy, take your trouser waist and add about 5 cm (2 in).

Belts

If you already own a belt that fits

  1. Lay it flat, buckle at one end.
  2. Find the hole you actually use — not the middle hole, not the tip.
  3. Measure from where the leather meets the buckle to the centre of that hole.
  4. That number is your belt size.

If you are measuring your body

  1. Wrap a soft tape at the height you wear a belt, over the trousers you wear most.
  2. Read the circumference.
  3. Add 5 cm (2 in) for the belt size.

Between two sizes? Take the larger one. An extra hole can always be added to leather, but a strap cannot be lengthened.

Choosing a width

Footwear

Footwear conversion charts are a starting point, not a guarantee: sizing varies between lasts and makers, and width matters as much as length. Use the chart to find your likely size, then confirm with us before ordering.

Trace both feet standing up, measure heel to longest toe, and use the larger foot. Feet are rarely the same size.

Handbags

Bags are specified less by "size" than by two measurements:

Both are listed on each piece. If you are choosing between two, compare the strap drop against a bag you already like wearing.
